This Grenache’s character can be traced back to our very own Estate 60+ years old bush vine vineyard. Rich in history, this vineyard bears witness to the evolution of Grenache styles over the years. Within its roots lies a living history that finds its expression within the bottle. The unique micro-climate that cradles our vines, coupled with the soil structure of Maslin sand layered over clay has yielded a fruit that attests to the exceptional terroir of the region. These factors contribute to producing fruits of unparalleled quality, a demonstration of the harmony between the land, the vine, and the hands that cared for them.

Tasting Notes

Appearance: Medium ruby

Aroma: Notes of strawberry jam, cherry, and dark plum taking the lead. Hints of fennel seed, a breath of mint, and clove in the background, add a subtle herbal intrigue.

Palate: The wine has a medium body with a mouthcoating tannin sensation that adds to the wine's texture. Flavours mirror those discovered on the nose, with red plum, dark plum, and strawberry leading the way. A gentle undercurrent of warm spices, including cinnamon and clove is presented. This Blewitt Springs Grenache shines brightly, presenting a lively and vibrant character that is uniquely its own.
Winemaking

Sourced from our Estate vineyard situated in the renowned Blewitt Springs of McLaren Vale. This vintage is born from two blocks, each hosting 60-year-old bush vine vineyards with an open canopy management approach. 80% destemming, 20% whole bunch. Fermentation took place in an open fermenter, featuring a header board. To ensure even heat distribution and optimal aeration, we performed gentle pump-overs twice a day. A period of 3 to 4 days of skin maceration further elevates the wine's character. Following fermentation, the wine found its home in large format puncheons ranging from 500 to 800 litres, 4 to 6 years old. Fined with vegetal protein. Vegan friendly.
